As I begin my second year of college, I wanted a way to recount my walk with the Lord as He leads me through this time. I came up with the idea to start a blog when I was talking to my mom  about the struggles modern girls face. So many of us are yearning to be seen as beautiful, yet I believe that society’s definition of beauty, as seen in tabloids, Hollywood, etc., ignores the true beauty of humanity. This beauty comes only through the Father and I want this website to be a place where young girls learn to root their identity, beauty, and authentic femininity in Him.

A Google search defines the word GLORIFY as “to reveal or make clearer the glory of God by one’s actions.” We are called to glorify the Lord in our lives. St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:20 deepens this call saying,

“For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, GLORIFY GOD through your bodies.”

St. Paul in this line calls Christians to a higher standard of living. He calls us to use our bodies, our sexuality, our lives to reveal the glory of God to others. I chose this line as the tag line for my site for two reasons:

#1: LADIES, we have been PURCHASED AT A PRICE. The dignity of our humanity and femininity means so much to the Lord that He sent His Son to die for us. The price Jesus paid on the cross surpasses society’s definition of our worth. We are worth more than the images in magazines, in movies, TV shows, etc. because our sweet and merciful Lord died for us…YOU my dear have been purchased at a price.

#2: Because we have our God-given dignity, let us return it to Him through our actions and the ways we present ourselves. In this blog, I hope to glorify the Lord in the way I present fashion, beauty and life as a young woman…things that I believe are important to many women my age.

My goal is to help young girls fall in love with Him through not only their prayer and faith experiences, but also in their respect for themselves and their bodies. I absolutely love fashion and beauty especially when it brings glory to the Lord. I strongly believe that to be modest does not mean you have to be frumpy and to be cute and fashionable does not mean you have to show everything to the world. Hopefully more girls will come to realize this truth and we can turn around a culture that puts so much attention on bodily, earthly, and over-sexualized things.

If you’re looking at this page, I hope that you’re searching for something more as I was and still am. If you are, follow along and lets lift each other up to glorify the Lord through our love of fashion, beauty, and our femininity and dignity as women.

**Disclaimer** I am still just beginning this journey and continue to examine the fine line of being vain/material with my love of fashion and beauty and being able to use those things to glorify the Lord. Please be patient with me as I pray about this and know that I never intend to brag or seem full of myself. I simply want to share and bring together my two passions: the Catholic faith and modest, modern fashion and beauty. Pray for me in this search!

**Disclaimer** I am Catholic…it is the faith that I love and will post about often. That being said, I hope this site can still be a place where non-Catholics and Catholics alike can be uplifted and escape the expectations society has on women.

God bless,

Emily

About me personally:

I am from the beautiful Denver, Colorado and when given the opportunity I remind others that at World Youth Day in 1993, Pope St. John Paul II said the New Evangelization would come out of my beloved hometown. In the fall I will be a sophomore at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas (why did a girl from Colorado move to flat Kansas?! For JESUS…and if you know the BC campus, it is far from flat). I am majoring in Theology and Evangelization/Catechesis and minoring in Mass Communications/Journalism. Wherever the Lord takes me, I want to be bringing Him to others, and right now I’m planning on doing so through Youth Ministry or mission work with Focus or the Culture Project (check them out on my Catholic Goodies page). I love sports, especially baseball, traveling (COMING SOON: Glori{flying} blog posts as I study abroad in Europe), and praising Christ in any way possible. If I’m drinking something its either San Pelligrino, a Chai Tea, or a cappuccino, and if I’m shopping somewhere its either J.Crew, Old Navy, or any of the website on the above linked page. I have a love and devotion to our sweet Mama Mary and her Glorious Son…especially His Divine Mercy. When in need of help I call on the following:

Our Lady Queen of Peace

St. Therese of Lisieux

St. Rosalia of Palermo

Blessed Mother Theresa

Pope St. John Paul II

St. Faustina

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassatti

St. Michael the Archangel,

PRAY FOR US

Sacred Heart of Jesus,

HAVE MERCY ON US

Hi Emily! I absolutely LOVE your blog! I’m 17 and a junior in high school in Florida. I don’t remember how I found your Instagram, but I followed it recently and then saw your blog in your bio and decided to check it out. It’s great because I’m Catholic (and preppy) as well and I really love how you’re so passionate about our religion. I know I’m not as devoted as you seem to be, but I hope to get there someday and I think keeping up with your blog will help me. I’m sure you’re busy with college (what are you majoring in?), but will you be posting frequently?

Aileen thank you so much for reaching out to me! It’s good to know that people are actually reading what I’m putting out 🙂 Praise Jesus you have a desire to deepen your faith! Please know that I am in the exact same boat. Right now I am trying to get into more of a routine of posting… I have noticed lately that I really need to start taking this mission seriously (I feel like God is using your comment to wake me up a bit too so thank you! :)) But right now I am working with my best friend who is a graphic designer to try and re-vamp my site and then hopefully I’ll get into a better routine! I am double majoring in Theology and Evangelization/Catechesis and a minor in Mass Communications. I promise I will work on posting more often. Thanks again for reaching out, you don’t know how much it means to me!
      God bless,
      Emily
